BSHS LibraryFor some time, the Bonita Springs Historical Society has had a 350 volume research library. At a General Meeting last year the members in attendance voted to open it to members as a lending library. The library is on the second floor of the Liles Hotel History Center (27300 Old US 41 Rd).
On Tuesday and Thursday, between 1 pm and 3 pm, starting in October, docents will be there to check out books to members. In order to keep track of those we loan, we must check your current membership. 2019 memberships will be available.
Some books on display in the showcase in the Liles Hotel toddy show the variety of subjects covered; biography, Florida sites, environment, the many cultures who lived here, architecture, travel, decorative art, archeology and stories about local history and myth.
We are fortunate to have Linda Houston, retired librarian from the Bonita Springs Public Library as our librarian. See has researched our collection and identified some rare pieces.
When you come in, check out the Historical Society’s display cases on the first floor and then come up to the library. On Thursday from 1 pm to 3 pm, docents will also be conducting tours.
